Mini Yarn Hat Ornament - Photo Steps
To start, you'll need to decide on the color of your mini hats. Take a look and grab a skein of yarn you like, best not too thin. Now, let's get down to work:
Step 1 - Cut the cardboard tube

Cut a small portion off your cardboard tube to get a cardboard ring. Anything between ½" and ¾" will work.
Step 2 - Cut yarn

Cut 30-50 pieces of yarn, depending on the thickness. The thicker the yarn, less yarn strands you'll need. About the length, I chose 11 inches. I wrapped yarn around my quilting ruler for quicker cutting, but you can also use a piece of cardboard.

Once you have enough yarn, cut it to get a bunch of 11" long strands.
Step 3 - Fold one strand in half
Now we need to knot the yarn onto the tube. What you'll see here is also called a larks head knot. Let me show you the steps:

Start by folding your yarn in half, then place the loop into the cardboard tube.
Step 4 - Grab the ends

Reach through the loop to grab the tail ends of the yarn.
Step 5 - Pull and make a knot

Pull them through the loop and tighten the knot.
Step 6 - Add more yarn

Step 7 - Push yarn through

Push the yarn through to the other side of the cardboard tube, to create a hat brim.
Step 8 - Tie off

Cut another piece of yarn to tie around the loose yarn to finish the hat. If you want to, trim the yarn ends to create a pom pom look on the top of the hat. Isn't it cute?

Wasn't this easy to finish! Spruce up your holiday vibes with these cute winter hat ornaments! Pop 'em on your Christmas tree, dangle them as a fun garland, or use them to top off your presents.
These Christmas hat ornaments are the perfect way to add a dash of festive charm to your celebrations!
